I first received the contact with the power of God (Holy Spirit) in the summer of 1964, while lying in bed thinking about ending my life, when I heard a voice saying, Well you've tried everything in your life, but you've never tried praying to God. I then heard myself saying in my heart, God, God, God and then I felt a very strong vibration enveloping my whole being that began shaking me as if I were a rag doll. I was also made to cry for my past sins and mistakes and I felt my bones cracking in various parts of my body. This experience lasted for 30 or 40 minutes and then I fell asleep in a very peaceful state.
This happened to me every night for a few weeks, when the voice I originally heard told me to go to a place where I met a Subud member who eventually convinced me to go to an applicant meeting in Subud New York. When I received my official
opening in Subud New York, I received the same experience that I had been receiving since the summer of 1964 except that I began by standing instead of lying in my bed. That is when I finally understood that what I had received was the same as what Subud members were also receiving.
The voice then told me not to listen to anyone, but to just read Bapak's talks. Bapak Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo was the founder of Subud. He was the first man to receive the contact with the power of God (Holy Spirit) and was given the ability to spread that contact to all those who wanted to receive it. In my early Subud life I received many true dreams. A true dream is a dream that eventually comes true. After that the understanding of those dreams can also be given to the person by the power of God (Holy Spirit). I felt moved to write this book during the fasting month of Ramadan this year in 2023. Praise be to the One Almighty God. Amin!
