Tristan's Whore, Volume II: Amanda is a field guide for saving the world, assuming you're a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist starting an internship at the University of Montana's Mental Health Service. Even the best psychologist can only save the world one person at a time, and Martha Marie Carter Oldperson Comanescu is far from the best. But she's persistent, and her world-saving plan lives in three spiral notebooks tucked in her sock and panty drawer in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Martha lives in a world where facts no longer matter and perception is reality. A world where AI not only generates content but controls what we see (this might be the last book you read written entirely by a human, though any decent robot would tell you the same). She might say, Mental health services may be our last, best hope for saving ourselves and the world, assuming the term doesn't include things like conversion therapy or operant conditioning.
This volume introduces one of Martha's favorite people: Malcolm the Miracle Boy. He's hard to summarize, so here are the facts: only 0.36% of transgender adults detransition due to gender dissonance. Most of the 9% who do detransition do so under the crushing weight of rejection by loved ones. I get it, it was easier for much of my life to be the boy my father demanded than the person I truly am. But here's another fact: 98% of adults who transition are happier afterward. (Source: U.S. Trans Survey, June 11, 2025.) I read more back covers than books, so I added a few facts here just in case you're the same.
Volume II continues Martha's spiritual war against Tristan. This time, Amanda is at her side instead of Billy. And Amanda is one hell of a warrior.
