Do people really fall in love? Are couples happily married or simply happy to be married? Does fate exist? Jack Dorsey, a single dad who is barely surviving the dichotomous worlds of dating, working, and parenting, would like to believe that true love is waiting for him. Single for the last three years, Jack appears in no hurry to settle down. Appearances can be misleading. Jack would happily trade in all his one night stands for a date with Stephanie Ritter. A teacher at Prescott Academy, the school Jack's son attends, Stephanie has noticed Jack through the years but is unaware she embodies his belief that true love might exist. Fate, in Jack's mind, intervenes on a chilly November night when he bumps into Stephanie at a local fundraiser and they kiss. Jack is ecstatic to be dating the girl of his dreams, but he quickly learns their love story is not so formulaic. Haunted by a broken past, Stephanie challenges Jack's preconceived thoughts on love, marriage, and fate. The ideals of love are tested when Jack is forced to decide between the idea of love and the existence of love. Love stories don't always have to end happily...
