To Damer: Fortaelling (1891) is a Danish novel written by Gabriel Finne. The title translates to Two Ladies: A Story in English. The novel tells the story of two women, Marie and Karen, who come from very different backgrounds but become friends. Marie is a wealthy widow who lives in Copenhagen and Karen is a poor farmer's wife from Jutland. The two women meet when Karen comes to Copenhagen to visit her son, who is studying at a university there. Despite their differences in class and lifestyle, the two women find common ground and form a close bond. The novel explores themes of friendship, social class, and the challenges faced by women in late 19th century Denmark. The book was well-received upon its publication and is considered a classic of Danish literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
