Three Types of Logical Theory is a book written by Holly Estil Cunningham and published in 1918. The book explores the different types of logical theory that exist, namely, formal logic, material logic, and transcendental logic. The author begins by discussing formal logic, which is concerned with the study of the form of arguments and propositions, rather than their content. The book explains the basic principles of formal logic, including the rules of inference and the use of symbols and notation. Next, the book delves into material logic, which is concerned with the content of arguments and propositions, rather than their form. The author explains the different types of material logic, including inductive and deductive reasoning, and discusses their applications in various fields such as science and mathematics. Finally, the book explores transcendental logic, which is concerned with the study of the conditions that make knowledge possible. The author discusses the role of transcendental logic in philosophy, and how it is used to examine the limits of human knowledge and understanding. Overall, Three Types of Logical Theory provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of logical theory, their applications, and their significance in various fields. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the study of logic and its role in human understanding and knowledge. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
