Thrashed is a roaringly funny autobiography of a young boy growing up in Africa during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Filled with school boy pranks and humorous characters, the book will leave you with a lot of good laughs. Working through tough family issues, amongst anecdotes that will make your sides ache, forces the author to grow up quickly leading to awkward situations. The easy pace keeps the smiles coming chapter on chapter. There is also a good deal of poetry written during the author's childhood that introduces an element of rejection & sombre reality to the otherwise light-hearted chapters. The book additionally contains a serious side-story of how the author's child is at risk at the time of writing from a potentially life-threatening, possibly genetic disorder. This causes the adopted author to seek out his biological father only to uncover a twisted tale of lies and shame.
