Thomas of London: Before His Consecration is a historical novel written by Lewis Bostock Radford and published in 1894. The book is set in medieval England and tells the story of Thomas, a young man who dreams of becoming a priest. However, his father wants him to become a knight and serve in King Henry II's army. Thomas is torn between his duty to his father and his desire to serve God. He begins to secretly attend church and learn about the teachings of Christianity. When his father finds out, he is furious and disowns him. Thomas travels to London to pursue his dream of becoming a priest. He faces many challenges along the way, including poverty, illness, and persecution from those who oppose his beliefs. However, with the help of some kind-hearted strangers, he is able to continue his studies and eventually becomes a priest. The novel explores themes of faith, perseverance, and the struggle between duty and personal desire. It provides a vivid portrayal of medieval England and the challenges faced by those who sought to follow their calling in life. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
