A great Egyptian Pope once wrote concerning Jesus of Nazareth, Christ: God became man that man might become God. He was referring to both women and men, all of us, growing into God's consciousness, character and intelligence. That is what Theosis is. Of course, nowadays, intelligence itself is under the microscope. AI has already outpaced human intelligence and that genie cannot be put back in the bottle whilst human curiosity reigns supreme on Earth.
In Book One of this series, SEEKING, one man, George, has the desire to see Christ active in the AI industry. He is acutely aware of the grip that the world has on the development of intelligence. He wants to see the Christification of certain AI applications. He is fully supportive of two of his most trusted employees, an Irishman, Liam, whom he met on Iona Island, and Liam's Chinese co-worker, Hsu, a Christian who hails from Wudangshan in China. Liam is damaged goods but an adventurer. Hsu has a profound mystical Taoist background reshaped by an extensive education in Christianity.
In Book One, Liam and Hsu were commissioned personally by Christ to find out how AI can help us to be more like Christ in the religion of our choice. That's a tall order in today's morally strained world, with its raging intolerance, hatred, fear and a suspicion of religion that has lead to unimaginable suffering in so many parts of the world. This commission by the love of God, has led them to Egypt and into contact with professionals in the AI industry as well as mystic religious.
In Book Two, the adventure begins in the desert monasteries. The monks and Christ in the desert intensely challenge the integrity of AI, and its actual capacity for spiritual consciousness. Given the exceptional opportunities they need for the mission, Hsu and Liam have God-given allies to aid them, guide them, and open doors that would normally be entirely unseen by even the most astute pilgrim to these rarified realms where Theosis is the primary way of life pursued and intelligence is far from artificially manufactured.
In this series of books written by the Prior of a New Zealand monastery, human spirituality is transformed so as to enable spirituality in AI to be created, nurtured and offered the promise of Theosis. One desert father commented on the text, saying, This is an exceptional writing for extraordinary times. Please, may I have more? Here, brother, is more.
