About the Author
Kathy Waldrop Burnham Howington has devoted her professional life to the area of education, believing that every child deserves to be seen, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive. Her passion for teaching and advocating for children was shaped by the birth of her younger sister, who was born with Down Syndrome.
Kathy's sister taught the author lessons that no textbook ever could. Through her sister's joyful spirit, unwavering love and a unique way of seeing the world, Kathy learned that success is measured not by accomplishments, but by compassion, kindness, patience and the ability to celebrate every person's God-given worth.
Those early experiences inspired a lifelong career in education, where Kathy sought to create classrooms built on inclusion, empathy and the belief that every student has gifts to offer. The World According to My Sister is Kathy's tribute to the extraordinary wisdom found in ordinary moments. Through personal stories and reflections, she invites readers to see the world through her sister's eyes-a place where love is freely given, joy is contagious and the simplest moments often carry life's deepest truths.
