The World, Book Four (December) is the fifth installment about a slightly over-hormoned, teenage overseas military brat who thinks too much, has a bit of a problem with authority and whose father is stationed at Torrejon Air Base, Madrid, Spain, from 1969-1974. The World, Book 4 starts just after Thanksgiving, 1972, and covers the full month of December. Once again, the narrator embarks on a multitude of adventures including varsity basketball, a trip to Kenitra in Spanish Morocco, and the Christmas holiday season in the Royal Oaks housing area and on Torrejon AB during the early post-Vietnam War period. As usual, military brat craziness abounds. Book 4, from the narrator's humorous perspective, also contains poignant moments that help him on his wild, and sometimes confusing, ride of teenage self-discovery. This latest installment of The World, introduces a wide spectrum of new and influential and unforgettable characters.
