S.C. Biela presents and examines two of the most fundamental aspects of interior life: contrition and gratitude. He insightfully likens contrition and gratitude to two spiritual pillars in unexpected, thought-provoking ways. Additionally, Biela reminds us of the special gift and role of the Blessed Mother as God's instrument who assists the individual in growing in the authentic contrition and gratitude necessary when following the path to sanctity. Biela keys in on the important role contrition and gratitude play as a soul's discovery of the truth
about itself, and the truth about God's infinite love and mercy, deepens. This book is beneficial for all those traveling on the spiritual road to transforming union with Christ.
Quotes from the book:
The desire to show gratitude to God should be born in us each time we notice how we have experienced His love. It is precisely this gratitude that will build in us an image of God that is closer and closer to the truth. It will build in us the image of the One who is Love and who continually takes care of us (74-75).
Contrition and gratitude make up a long path that must lead you to the point where you can see, in the light of God's grace, the entire truth about who you are before God (94).
