Of all the fantasy stories little girls hear, perhaps the most preposterous is the one that claims if you're good, loyal and true, you end up with happily ever after. What happens when Sleeping Beauty wakes up and there's no prince? What if you're a 40-something woman with no story arc worthy of fable, having to begin again after buying into till death do us part? Is there a reason even to attempt love after a life less lived, when you're newly single and trying to navigate the breadth of technology and a brave new online world?THE TRUTH takes a sardonic look at dating, sex and sexuality in the 21st Century from the perspectives of two 40-something women forced to start life over after spending years lost in bad relationships. Completely unsure of what each needs but knowing for certain what she doesn't want, which is more of the same, the characters come from a generation of women who were falsely promised a happily ever after in which they would have it all. It's a coming of (middle) age story for today's reality. Brutal, humorous, and offering a self-deprecating look at what it is to be a woman of a certain age, these parallel stories unveil the universal desire to do things right the second time around. What happens when you wake up and realize that the life you gave everything to isn't the life you were promised? When you wake up from the fairy tale, you may just find THE TRUTH.
