The Tracks -a refuge- takes place in the fictional town of Sterling Reserve near the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. People moved into abandoned rail cars on the wrong side of a broken down bridge. Their neighborhood of five derelict railroad cars came to be called The Tracks. They wanted to live a different sort of life than the life most people strove for in the early 1950's. Juliette Cameron skippered a commercial fishing at seventeen years of age. She arrived at The Tracks when she was twenty three, looking for the rest of her life. The enigmatic mix of people at The Tracks gelled into a unique community.
