Katy was young, beautiful and loved her happy rural Irish life until the loss of her father forced the family of women to leave their home and become servants to the English squire. Her determination to help her family was as fiery as her red hair, driving her to find a way to save them all from a lifetime of tedious labor. When her best friend Beth became a mail order bride for an American Irish immigrant, Katy knew what path her life would take. She would go with Beth to Memphis, sell her own freedom to a wealthy merchant seeking a modest Irish woman as a wife, and rescue her family. The trip is an awakening for Katy as she meets the handsome first mate Ian, who is immediately entranced by the slender, green-eyed Irish lass. By the end of the trip, he is ready to abandon his life at sea and start a new life as captive to the love he has found. But Katy is already pledged to another man, Aaron. Ian makes his own plan to have the woman who now owns his heart. Upon her arrival in Memphis, Katy meets Devon, Aaron's brother who becomes her greatest challenge. Trying to find acceptance in a wealthy society family and their friends teaches Katy about friendship, love and death. Mrs. Kara stands firmly between Katy and the plan that would save her mother and sisters from a life of poverty. A battle of wills and love over hate follow the spirited beauty until she finds her way. a way she had not considered. The Third Way.
