Haley feels that her life is over. She has discovered that her husband is having an affair with her best friend. She takes measures to secure her future, but then tragedy strikes, leaving her crippled. Brian is the top therapist in his town. He is petitioned by Haley's sister to become Haley's therapist. Brian accepts the job and decides to work for Haley. He soon discovers that Haley is dealing with a lot of pain and tries to be a friend. Haley is very appreciative of Brian's friendship, but secretly hopes for more. She realizes that she is hopelessly in love with Brian, but is afraid that Brian only sees her as a client. Brian wonders if his friendship with Haley has become inappropriate. He now fears that he has violated every code of ethics with her, and begins to back away from the beauty.
