When budget consultant Brenda Boyd slashes the town's Christmas budget she makes more enemies than ornaments on a tree, leaving Ellie Read, former investigative journalist turned book and tea store owner, with another murder mystery to solve.

Then, as if solving a murder during the busiest shopping season wasn't enough, yet another mysterious spirit has taken up residence in Spines & Steeps. When the windows of her bookstore begin frosting over with mysterious messages, the ghost's desperate attempts to reach the living, Ellie is forced to solve that mystery, too.

Of course Ellie doesn't have to do this alone. With her found family including Baxter, Hobbes, Valerie, Sofia, and Lucy, (and don't forget that handsome rascal Detective Morrison) she's never alone.
