The Stars Are Better Naked is a collection of poems exploring the perplexities of sex, love, loss, choices, addiction, self-loathing, and our own raw, human experience. This collection is about the small, often private, moments that we each experience in our daily lives. The poems are lyrical and aim at capturing the moments in time that leave you in a state of wonder when the world seems unintelligible. Forrest Miller's debut book is written from the perspective of a millennial who has undergone various traumas, lived in poverty, and yet has been able to love and learn through it all. Most of the poems are set against the all-too-familiar backdrop the world is reliving; overseas war, dramatic economic collapse, and limited social mobility. Finding beauty and relevance in these situations is difficult, but through Forrest Miller's words, we can eloquently experience the joys, marvels, and wonders of the world.
