Sally believes that there is another, more magnificent world above the brick ceiling of the sewer, but all of the other rats believe that the sewer is all there is, and that Sally is crazy. Sally says there is a sun. The other rats say she is thinking of their flickering candle. Sally says there is an ocean out there. The other rats say she is only imagining it from brown puddles. Sally is right, of course, but it will take a disaster to prove it.This is a beautifully illustrated story of belief in yourself and in things bigger than yourself. The Sewer Rats is an inspirational book with a strong message: The sun even shines for the sewer rats.
