科技工作为我提供了生活的温饱,也给了我观察事物领悟宇宙生命的知识与智慧。更重要的是,因为科技的训练使我的诗比较简洁精炼也比较客观,不致太滥情;而因为写诗的关系,我在工作上对问题的考虑也比较多方面,不至於钻牛角尖。每当我在一个领域里碰到困难或感到失望疲困的时候,我便到另一个领域里去歇歇脚喘喘气,休养整补一番,再重新出发。更重要的是,因为觉得有后路可退,心理压力不会太大,做起事来反而会更轻松更有效率,不至於斤斤计较患得患失。这种心态对搞艺术创作或写作的人来说,尤其显得重要。从笑虹的诗里,我能听到她对我这些话的呼应。
