The Quest for Singularity.
The difference between the church today and the one we were part of during the Jesus Revolution can be summed up in one word: fire. We would often say someone was on fire for the Lord. That's the distinction between the church today and the one many of us experienced 50 years ago.

During the movement, the fire spread far beyond local churches and deep into neighborhoods. Whenever believers gathered, it often led to an impromptu Bible study or prayer meeting. These gatherings produced much fruit, and altar calls taking place in living rooms were common, with many coming to Christ in the comfort of their homes. One such event occurred in a small home study in Huntington Beach, on Liberty Street, where my wife and I attended. It started as a small group but quickly outgrew the first apartment and caught fire. Before long, three apartments in this small community of six duplexes were holding meetings, with a fourth group starting on the street next over.

For us, a typical day consisted of morning church with Chuck Smith, followed by lunch, then a service at the Disneyland Hotel. We'd then cross the street to Melodyland for another service, before heading back to Calvary Chapel at 7 PM for a study of 10 chapters a week through the entire Bible. After that, we'd travel to a brother's house for worship, prayer, and yet another Bible study.

The Jesus Revolution and movement was a time when a multitude of new believers were 100% sold out to Jesus.

Being 100% sold out for Jesus requires a life of sacrifice and a passionate pursuit of understanding what the scripture Christ in me. means.
