For many high achieving students today, a career in medicine represents the ultimate career in the universe. Fueled by visions of prestige and wealth in their heads, millions of students worldwide join the rat race each year to obtain a coveted spot in medical school. Ryan Hartshire is one of those students. Coming from the small town of Tobacco River where hardly anyone proceeds to post-secondary education, Ryan has absolutely no idea what to expect. Little does he know that the adjustment to life on campus is the least of his worries. From dealing with patronizing student leaders to listening to disinterested professors, every day represents a new challenge for Ryan. Not surprisingly, his experience is made worse by the cutthroat competitiveness of premed studies. Throw in a bit of academic dishonesty and a crush on a fellow classmate or two, and you've got all the makings of Ryan's adventure of a lifetime.
