The Payroll Robbery

Jake McCafferty is a cowboy who decides to quit his job and do some traveling to see some of the world around him. He meets and befriends another cowboy, Pete Conway, and the two embark on an adventure, with Pete serving as a sort of guide for Jake. Along the way they encounter hostile Indians, frontier sheriffs, and tinhorn gamblers, eventually coming into contact with an outlaw band led by one of Billy the Kid's associates. All through the adventure they risk their lives as they engage in battle, sometimes with their wits and sometimes with their guns.

Eventually a large gunbattle ensues, involving the US Army, the band of outlaws, and our two heroes.
