Hello imaginary reader, my name is Russell and this is my story. It's all about how I traveled the country, found the love of my life, landed the perfect job...and then immediately lost all of it to a monster that follows me to this day. It's been twenty years since my time in the mountains. It's funny how one or two years can determine the course of your whole life. Maybe it's not so much funny as it is absurd. I have a good story to tell you if you'd like to hear it. There's love, hate, blood, demons, the occult...something for everybody.

How do I know this is such a good story? Because I've been telling it in my head over and over again as I've walk down these dark, desolate roads for nearly two decades. I can't say much more than that because I don't want to spoil anything for you. You'll just have to take my word for it. My story is worth the price of admission, I guaran-damn-tee it.

This is part one of my story, although to call it that seems vaguely glib. Let's just say that here you'll get an understanding of who I am and how I came to be wondering the back roads of America with a traveling partner you'd have to see to believe (if only it was visible). And if you don't want to look any further than that, you don't have to. Believe me, I don't want to look past the cloaked horizon sometimes either.
