The Norton Story, written by Mildred McClary Tymeson, is a comprehensive account of the history and evolution of the Norton Company, a prominent American manufacturer of industrial abrasives, machine tools, and aerospace components. The book traces the company's origins back to 1885, when entrepreneur John Jeppson Norton founded the Norton Emery Wheel Company in Worcester, Massachusetts. Over the course of the next century, the company grew and diversified, expanding into new markets and developing innovative products that helped shape the industrial landscape of the United States. The Norton Story delves into the many challenges and triumphs that the company faced over the years, including the Great Depression, World War II, and the rise of global competition. It also explores the company's corporate culture, which emphasized innovation, quality, and a commitment to social responsibility. Through a combination of archival research and interviews with former employees and executives, Tymeson provides a fascinating insider's view of the Norton Company and its impact on American industry. In addition to its historical significance, The Norton Story offers valuable insights for anyone interested in business strategy, innovation, and corporate culture. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the evolution of American industry and the role that companies like Norton played in shaping it.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
