The Night We Met Jimothy the Raccoon

Being different isn't just okay, it's what makes every one of us truly special!

A cozy family camping trip turns into an unforgettable adventure when Deb and her brothers, Dan and John, chase their runaway dog into the evening woods and spot an unusual creature. The little raccoon has long front legs, a round back, and a tiny tail he is different from any animal they've ever seen!

Deb, who has vitiligo, and Dan, who is deaf and uses sign language, immediately recognize a kindred spirit. Determined to make friends, the siblings set out on a gentle mission to track down the unique little fellow they name Jimothy.

In The Night We Met Jimothy the Raccoon, Debbie DeSimone weaves an endearing woodland quest with meaningful representation, showing young readers that our differences are our greatest strengths.

Highlights include:

• Empathy & Inclusion: A gentle, touching lesson on kindness, self-worth, and embracing what makes us unique.
• Interactive Backmatter: Features a fun picture scavenger hunt and a full ASL fingerspelling alphabet chart for kids to practice!
