The Mystery Snake is a thrilling story set against the rich cultural backdrop of South Eastern Nigeria. It is a gripping tale of identity, discovery, heritage, and destiny. It follows the journey of a young man called Enechi who sets out on a quest to find a new home for himself and his family after he is suddenly confronted with the shocking truth that the place where he had always called home was not his birthplace and that his pregnant mother was a slave who died at childbirth. This book is a work of fiction loosely based on actual events rooted in the real-life traditions of Okposi Okwu, a community in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. This fictional story draws inspiration from an animal totem which is a sacred green snake, known locally as aka. In Okposi Okwu, the green aka snake is considered harmless and is not harmed by the indigenes of the community. If the snake is accidentally killed, it is buried elaborately with honor in a cultural ceremony steeped in tradition. There are many versions of how the green snake came to be regarded as a totem. This book is a fictional attempt by the author to tell the story of how the snake came to be regarded as mysterious. The book is thrilling, thought-provoking and offers a unique blend of history, mythology, and mystery that will captivate readers from the beginning to the very last page.
