A nearly empty bar. One night. Two strangers who won't stop arguing.
Elliot has spent two years chasing an answer: if God is real, why does He let people suffer? He's read the philosophy, dug through the dark web, built a whole case. Tonight he finds someone to argue it with - a calm stranger named Lewis who won't back down and won't let Elliot off easy either.
What starts as a debate over drinks turns into something closer to an interrogation, then something closer to a confession. Every round strips away one more excuse, until the real question surfaces: how far is Elliot willing to go to survive, and what is he willing to become to get there.
This isn't a story that explains itself. It argues, and it doesn't blink. By sunrise, a choice gets made that can't be walked back.
Winner of the OECTA Young Authors Award. Short enough to finish in one sitting. You won't see where it's headed.
