Taking place over several months in Virginia Beach, Virginia, The Last Summer begins with Daniel and his sister Samantha, following their mother to her lover's house. Armed with his camera, Daniel films her activity in an attempt to blackmail his abusive mother. During that summer, Daniel comes out to his sister and finds comfort with Lucas, as Samantha finds her first love in Landon, Lucas's brother. Together, the four embark on an unforgettable summer, full of memories and risk taking. When an unimaginable tragedy occurs, Samantha is left to fend for herself at home, where she no longer has her only ally, Daniel. Samantha, along with Landon and his family, overcome the loss of her brother, only to be blindsided by the truth of what actually happened to him and the realization of the monster she has been living with. The Last Summer is a character driven tale of first love and loss, and allows you to follow Samantha through her amazing journey, where she ultimately shines as the heroine.
