The Instant Lyre is unpublished manuscript by Luis G. Dato (1906-1985). It is a collection of around 200 works of poems and sonnets which spans 50 years, from the 1920s to the 1970s. After more than 30 years after his death, The Instant Lyre is now available. It is a complete original collection from his University of the Philippines days in the 1920s to his teaching profession at the University of Saint Anthony in Iriga City during the 60s to the 70s. His works are grouped into events, places, muses, etc; and aptly classified into three winds: a) First wind - 1920s to 1930s; b) Second Wind - 1940s to 1950s; and Third Wind - 1960s to 1970s.
