The Home Coming is a novel about a young black girl named Nicole Peterson, who went by the name Nikki. She lived in Meadow Creek Colorado in the 60's, and at the age of eighteen, she was in love with a handsome young man named Donald Malone. Being an only child, Donald wanted for nothing. Even as an adult, his parents made certain he continued to live the lifestyle he was accustomed too. Nikki was also an only child but she didn't have the luxury of having everything handed to her on a silver platter. Her parents worked hard to live a modest life. Early in the novel Nikki had a tragic accident which drastically changed her life. Each day Nikki struggle with the pain she experienced, she felt she would never over come the life she had to live.
