The enthusiasm for the witch hunts in the Puritan colonies have begun to wither, but for some, the hunt wages on and for very different reasons. Captain Daniel Rogers, of HMS Gargoyle, would like very much for the colonies to move past their obsessions so that the witch, Mary Dunn, whom he went to great pains to liberate (see Book 1), can come out of hiding and do what she was freed to do - help fighting the French.
Captain Rogers finds himself on a new assignment that is neither exciting nor in line with his personal projects. During this voyage, the Gargoyle comes across a mysterious ship, whose belligerent behavior sends Rogers on a series of side missions, until he stumbles back into the middle of the witch hunt.
In this Book 2 of the Gargoyle Journals, the hunt is on and for far more than just witches.
