The Gem: A New Leaf at the Senior Community
Recently widowed and alone for the first time in fifty-five years, Charlie is determined to keep the promise he made to his late wife, Laura: to move forward with life. Reflecting on how cannabis products eased Laura's pain during her battle with cancer, Charlie begins to wonder if these same products could help his fellow residents at The Gem, the senior citizen residential community where he lives.
He believes many residents living with pain, insomnia, and other age-related conditions would be interested, but they are unable or unwilling to drive to a dispensary. Sparked by the prospect of helping his friends and making a profit, Charlie considers starting a business.
He recruits his friend, Ken, a retired chef, to make edibles, while Charlie sources various CBD and THC items from the dispensary. Their venture takes off; they find success and deepen their friendship along the way.
But their growing business and benevolent goals are jeopardized when Grumpy, a staunch say no to drugs resident, reports them to the administration, triggering an investigation that interferes with their mission to help their friends. Can Charlie and Ken save their venture before their good intentions go up in smoke?
