The Enormities Known to Exist

In an instant of terrible discovery, James Nesbitt's life is forever changed when he is convicted of unnatural offences and transported to Van Dieman's Land. Cast out from his pampered colonial life on the mainland, he finds himself a member of the convict class and becomes subject to its daily brutality and humiliation. However, in this bleak landscape he comes to recognize a kindred soul in Andrew Scott, the probation station's scourger. Now the two must learn to survive as outcasts at the end of the earth.

Drawing on research into documents and media surrounding homosexuality in Australia, it is a mosaic of moments and attitudes to bring light to the hidden histories of our people. Histories which modern structural forces continue seeking to erase.
