A hilarious children's picture book about Dad, too many beans, and one very unfortunate trip to the theatre!
Dad loves plans. He loves lists. And he especially loves checking little boxes. So when Mom's big opening night arrives, Dad has everything planned: flowers, cake, Mom's costume, and getting the whole family to the theatre on time.
There's just one tiny problem.
Dad ate beans for breakfast. A lot of beans.
A giant bowl of baked beans. A bean burrito. Beans on toast. Even extra beans on the side.
Soon flowers are mysteriously drooping, windows keep opening, and strangers start changing direction. But somehow Dad remains completely convinced that everything is going according to plan...
Until the lights dim, the curtain rises, and the audience goes completely silent.
The Day Dad Ate Too Many Beans
is a silly, warmhearted family story packed with expressive hand-drawn illustrations, visual jokes, and plenty of subtly implied silliness. Beneath the giggles is a sweet story about family, embarrassing moments, laughing together, and realizing that a perfect day doesn't always have to go perfectly.
And the fun doesn't end when the story does! Kids can head back through the book for three levels of Find-It challenges, searching the illustrations for hidden objects and increasingly sneaky surprises. Then they can Meet the Crew and discover more about Dad, Mom, Miles, Buddy, and the colourful characters they met along the way.
Perfect for ages 5-8, family read-alouds, early elementary readers, classrooms, libraries, and any kid who loves silly dad stories, visual jokes, hidden-object games, and laugh-out-loud family adventures.
And just when Dad thinks he's learned his lesson, the next morning's breakfast suggests otherwise...
Because sometimes the days that go completely wrong become the days your family remembers forever.
