Troelina is a headstrong purple troll, who should have known better than to trespass into Goatsland. Krug, the evil goat king, rules there, and he casts a terrible turning curse upon her-changing her into a gopher tortoise!
Nearby, but oblivious to the magical conflict happening within the Florida forest, is Eric. Eric is a city boy from New Jersey who is not too happy about living at his dad's place in the middle of nowhere. His parents are divorced, so he must spend the school year, but Eric hates being a misfit without his own friends.
Troelina's boyfriend, Fole, accidentally reveals himself to Eric. The two team up in a challenging quest to find the missing troll and foil the ruthless goat king's plans. In a secret journey involving an arrogant swan, nasty roaches, and a magical lake, the two transcend a variety of unique obstacles as they learn the true value of friendship. In the process, Eric discovers a new way of viewing his world and grows up-just a little.
This exciting, fast-paced novel will thrill middle-grade readers who enjoy fantasies packed with creative creatures and wilderness adventures.
