In The Christian Pastor's Work, Dr. Donald Corley asserts: The Christian movement exists within human history as part of natural social processes. The interaction between Christian theology and society is a perennial arena in which pastors work. Part I contains autobiographical data that establish the author's credentials. Essays in Part II, Talking About the Bible and Canonical Analysis, discuss the linguistic impasse about the Bible and suggest a less tension-filled language with which to speak of the Bible. Part III offers a demonstration of canonical analysis applied to Paul's I Corinthian letter. In Part IV the author proposes several Components of a Pastoral Model, interpolated from the educational and psychiatric fields Because intellectual criticism is one of the tensions contemporary pastors face, and because Friederich Nietzsche has been a critic of Christianity, Part V offers a series of essays related to some of Nietzsche's criticisms. Part VI is a series of brief essays about specific aspects of a Christian pastor's work.
