This is a collection of short pieces of fiction that covers an enormous sweep of locales. From German occupied Holland during WWII to the most remote region of the Southern Indian Ocean to a posh cocktail lounge in the outskirts of Washington D. C. to the grassy college football fields of Southern California and the green landscapes of coastal Oregon. There was no shortage of WWII heroes following the Nazi defeat. Celebrated were resistance fighters, saboteurs, spies, code-breakers, military leaders...and a painter. Follow Han van Meergeren, a Dutch painter and art forger, who was feted by his countrymen for hoodwinking countless stuffy art experts and collectors for over a decade, including Hitler's number two man, Herman Goering. The power of Nature obliterates a tiny island in the Southern Indian Ocean. We trace the plight of ten survivors of the catastrophe. Two most dissimilar figures meet in a smart Washington, D.C. lounge. Neither recognizes the other until...What happens when an ace football quarterback that happens to be an android quits the team to go to medical school, or when a vacationing Los Angeles arson detective drops into a small Oregon seaside town and finds himself a key player in a murder/arson investigation?
