Try it. Read through the laws and traditions of any 2,000-year-old culture, without knowing which culture it is, and tell me they don't seem antiquated and obsolete. There's nothing wrong with deriving hope and strength from the Bible, but thanks to virtually every religious leader's endorsement of Scripture being without error, you can't just point to the parts you like - it's an all or nothing game. Are parts of the Bible admirable? Are parts draconian and downright cruel by today's standards? Let's unpack this can of worms together and clean up the mess these Iron Age scribes left for the world to revere.
