The day begins with a yawn, a stretch, some sunshine, and fluffy, patriotic pancakes. Today is the Fourth of July-and it's about to be the perfect summer day. But what does it all mean? Why does the flag have stars and stripes? Why is it red, white, and blue? What does Independence Day celebrate? Jump into this all-American summer day, filled with bustling parades, swimming in the pool, sparkling fireworks, and good shared food. Along the way, you'll learn all about Old Glory and our great country. The Best Summer Day is the perfect way to teach young readers about the flag, our special (and fun!) American traditions, and the birth of our nation. Heather Lewandowski lives in Naperville, Illinois, with her husband, their two children and their chocolate lab, Roxy. She is the daughter of renowned illustrator, Caron Turk. Heather hoped to collaborate on The Best Summer Day with her mother, but sadly, Caron lost her battle with cancer in 2019. Now, along with her daughter and Caron's granddaughter, Ava, this book has come to life with Caron's, Heather's and Ava's illustrations. We hope you will share in our celebration of Caron Turk's legacy (Jeremiah 29:11) with love for our country and its flag.
