This family-friendly, high-action adventure blends plenty of comedy with the thrills and heroics. The story in which two teenagers battle an evil giant corporation, engages young readers; while the touches of social satire keep adults entertained too. Scientist Hugo Harrier has created the world's most nutritious cat food but his Best Ever Cat Food Formula has an unforeseen side effect: it makes cats talk. When Mr Gizard, the boss at GUZZLE Global Foods wants to use it to enslave the world's cat owners Hugo refuses to co-operate and Gizard takes him hostage. So 13-year old, Jack Harrier has to rescue his dad and protect the only copy of the Formula and smuggle Hugo's talking cats to safety. He teams up with Marvelle, a fearless and resourceful girl but Gizard gets more ruthless with each encounter and ultimately, they are fighting for their lives. Meanwhile, the talking cats reveal some feline secrets. Who knew that cats had their own legends, dating back to the dawn of history? Readers will be the first humans to hear about Old Mac - the fiery-eyed cat spirit that lurks unseen in doorways, ready to pounce on a teenager in trouble.
