As he moves deeper into the catacombs, long-buried spells ignite, murals shift to reveal hidden prophecies, and spectral guardians rise to test his worthiness. Every step awakens another fragment of forbidden magic-magic that responds only to him.
LAYLA'S RACE AGAINST THE SHADOW KINGAbove ground, Layla, heir to the Crescent Throne, discovers that the High Council has been hiding the truth about the Shadow Sigil's creation. Determined to reach Tariq before the Shadow King does, she forms a dangerous alliance with scholars of the Library of Echoes and begins unraveling a prophecy that ties her fate to his.

In a climactic confrontation with the shadow guardians, Tariq surrenders control and releases the full, unfiltered force inside him. The catacombs erupt with ancient sigil-fire, awakening a magic thought extinct, a magic tied to creation and destruction alike.
The release tears open a breach in the veil between realms, allowing the old magic-raw, primal, and sentient-to flood back into the world.
But freedom has a cost.
What Tariq unleashes does not intend to be contained again.
As the catacombs collapse and the awakened magic spreads through Al-Qamar, Tariq emerges transformed-not fully human, not fully shadow, something caught in between.
The Shadow King smiles.
