In 1921, Tulsa's Greenwood District-known as Black Wall Street-was one of the most prosperous Black communities in America. Black families owned thriving businesses, schools, and churches, building a self-sufficient neighborhood that stood as a symbol of hope and opportunity.

But in a single night, everything changed. A white mob attacked Greenwood, burning homes and businesses, killing hundreds, and leaving thousands homeless. The massacre was so destructive that it was largely erased from history for decades.
