Fifty-year-old Blessing had reservations about driving down to Virginia Beach with Peta for the weekend to meet up with three of Peta's friends, all white. But she does, only to share news that tests the group's ability to be empathetic to the trials and tribulations of a Black woman.

Lastly, there's Mason, a Black man who is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair, who must use his words to disarm a teenage, Black thug.

These four stories, taken together, should awaken us to the need to hold each other a little tighter in our ongoing quest to build a more fair, just and equitable America.
