My Trio for Piano and Strings in D minor was written in 2003. The first movement contrasts an elegiac opening with a lyrical and hopeful middle section. The second movement is a song of the Heartland, full of simple yearning and serenity. The third movement is full of buoyant confidence, with a middle section that presents a new song of hope and simple joy.
