A Treatise On The Pretended Divorce Between Henry VIII And Catharine Of Aragon is a historical book written by Nicholas Harpsfield. The book discusses the controversial divorce between King Henry VIII and his first wife, Catharine of Aragon, which sparked a major religious and political crisis in England during the 16th century. Harpsfield, a prominent Catholic theologian and historian, argues against the validity of the divorce and defends the marriage of Henry and Catharine as legitimate and binding according to Catholic doctrine. The book provides a detailed account of the events leading up to the divorce, including the political and religious motivations behind Henry's actions, as well as the legal and theological arguments put forth by both sides. Harpsfield's work is considered an important primary source for understanding the religious and political conflicts of the Tudor era, and provides valuable insights into the Catholic perspective on the English Reformation. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
