A Treasury of Eskimo Tales is a collection of traditional folktales and legends from the Inuit people of the Arctic region, compiled and retold by Clara K. Bayliss. Originally published in 1922, this book is a fascinating glimpse into the rich storytelling tradition of the Eskimo people, who have passed down their tales through oral tradition for generations. The book includes a wide variety of stories, ranging from humorous tales of trickster figures like Raven and Fox, to more serious stories about the struggles of survival in the harsh Arctic environment. Many of the tales feature animal characters, such as polar bears, walruses, and whales, who often possess human-like qualities and engage in complex relationships and interactions with the human characters. In addition to the stories themselves, A Treasury of Eskimo Tales also includes detailed notes on the cultural and historical context of the tales, as well as information on the Inuit language and traditional way of life. This makes it an invaluable resource for anyone interested in learning more about the Inuit people and their unique cultural heritage.Overall, A Treasury of Eskimo Tales is a delightful and engaging collection of stories that offers a fascinating window into the world of the Inuit people and their rich storytelling tradition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
