Trauma and Dissociation is a collection of poems written during a turbulent time. The collection of poems captures loss, death, mental health, love, family, friendship, brokenness and healing. Jamiyla Layla is an English author, writer, poet and astrologer. In 2018, Jamiyla took a break from her studies to focus on her mental health. Whilst on the waiting list to receive CBT treatment for PTSD. She found great comfort in expressing how she felt through poetry. It was incredibly therapeutic for her and a necessity to get her through. Whilst this was a very daunting time, her pain was a gift and a Catalyst for growth. Jamiyla was determined to set an example of what life could be, by not allowing what happened to oppress her. Processing pain, sorrow, grief and utilising her emotions to make a change. Through change a collection of poems developed. In the end she decided to put all she created into a book. By sharing a part of herself she's hoping others will choose to do the same. Ultimately proving that vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength. This is for all of those that have wounds. Later, after treatment, Jamiyla then continued her studies and graduated with a Counselling Integrative Therapy BA (Hons). Jamiyla is now a founder and director of Poem Stellium, an online publication. Dedicated in supporting voices in creative writing, mental health and astrology.
