A Translation Of The Four Gospels: From The Syriac Of The Sinaitic Palimpsest is a book written by Agnes Smith Lewis and published in 1894. The book contains a translation of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) from the Syriac language, which was the language spoken by the Christian communities in the Middle East during the early centuries of Christianity. The translation is based on the Sinaitic Palimpsest, a manuscript discovered by Agnes Smith Lewis and her sister Margaret Dunlop Gibson in the St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, Egypt. The manuscript contains fragments of the New Testament written in Syriac on top of an earlier text in Greek. The book provides an important contribution to the study of the early Christian texts and the history of the Syriac language. It is a valuable resource for scholars, students, and anyone interested in the history of Christianity and the development of the Bible. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
