Excerpt: ... the Legislature. And at all legal meetings of Parishes and Religious Societies, the qualifications of voters shall be the same as are now required by law for voters in town affairs. It shall be the duty of the Assessors of Parishes and Religious Societies, in assessing or levying taxes for the support of public worship, and all charges incident thereto, to assess or levy the same upon all the property both real and personal (not exempted bylaw from taxation) of all the members thereof, wherever the same may be situated within the Commonwealth, and no citizen shall be assessed or liable to pay any tax for the support of public, worship or other parish charges, to any Parish or Religious Society whatever, other than to that of which he is a member.
