One mountain storm. One dead truck. And a stranger with a past as dark as the highway ahead.
All Hallie Brandt wants is to haul her three valuable sale horses across the state line, collect her check, and save her family's ranch from the corporate shark circling her gate. But when her diesel truck dies under a Bitterroot ridge, she's out of time-and out of choices.
Enter Clay.
He's broad-shouldered, quiet, and knows how to fix an engine with steady hands. He asks no questions, takes cash, and handles a loaded horse trailer like he was born behind the wheel. He's exactly what Hallie needs to hit her deadline-and exactly the kind of threat her guarded heart can't afford.
Because Clay isn't just a wandering mechanic.
Underneath the road dust and grease is Clayton Hayes-a corporate billionaire running from the boardroom world that almost destroyed him. And the predatory developer trying to take Hallie's land? He's an old player from Clay's past.
When a brutal mountain blizzard traps them on a treacherous pass, survival means staying close. Only-one-bed-in-a-remote-cabin close.
As ice sheets the highway and secrets unravel, the line between professional terms and dangerous desire burns away. But when media cameras and corporate vultures ambush them at the pumps, Clay's hidden identity threatens to wreck everything Hallie has fought to build.
Hallie doesn't need saving from a billionaire in cowboy boots. But to keep her horses safe and her land her own, she'll have to decide if she can trust a man who mastered the art of hiding-or if the heat between them will leave her burned.
